August 19, 2022 – Today, Grammy-nominated recording artist, entrepreneur and philanthropist Fat Joe announced plans to take the theatrical stage for a one-man standup show this fall in New York City, where he will share never-before-heard stories based on his iconic life and career.
The live show will include a special introduction by Dave Chappelle and will be co-produced by Roc Nation and Magic Lemonade and directed by Chris Robinson. Joe’s autobiographical tales will be based on his upcoming memoir, The Book of Jose, and will feature special appearances from fellow celebrities. Event and ticketing details will be announced in the coming weeks.
From achieving superstardom to getting kidnapped in Africa to enduring incarceration, hip-hop’s greatest storyteller will give an unprecedented and unfiltered, first-hand account about the moments that changed the trajectory of his career forever. The one-man show will also offer a rare look into the highs and lows of Joe’s challenging yet inspiring life.
“The world will be getting Fat Joe at his most authentic, vulnerable, and comedic self on that stage,” Fat Joe said. “I’m not holding anything back. I’ve always taken pride in my storytelling, but we’re about to take it to the next level. I’m grateful to Dave Chappelle, Roc Nation and Magic Lemonade for their support in sharing my story and helping make this one-man show the biggest event ever.”
Joe’s on-stage commentary will be supplemented by archival footage and video interviews with his family, friends and collaborators – all set to the sound of the Terror Squad CEO’s multiplatinum discography.
“I’ve worked with great storytellers, but Fat Joe is easily one of the greatest of all-time,” Magic Lemonade executive producer Rikki Hughes said. “Magic Lemonade is excited to work with Joe and Roc Nation to bring his story to life in an unexpected way.”
Earlier this year, the Bronx native also announced the forthcoming release of The Book of Jose, which will explore how Joe overcame the drug- and violence-scarred South Bronx of the 1980s to blossom into one of the pre-eminent powerhouses of his generation. The book is available for preorder at https://bit.ly/BookofJose and will be available for purchase on Nov. 15.
