Angie Martinez Receives Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degree From Rutgers University-Newark

Multimedia powerhouse Angie Martinez is the 2020 Commencement Ceremony Speaker for Rutgers University – Newark. In addition to delivering the keynote address in May, Angie will also receive an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degree. She was chosen by a committee of students, faculty and staff not only for her influence in the entertainment and media space, but also for her commitment to philanthropic initiatives. Over the past two years, she has been working with Rutgers-Newark students to provide solar energy to post-Hurricane Maria Puerto Rico. Angie traveled with students to Puerto Rico, and released the documentary film Be The Light highlighting the initiative. The Commencement Ceremony will take place May 20th at the Prudential Center.
