Born and raised in Milwaukee, J.P. is the genre-defying artist putting on for his city’s “lowend” scene, bolstering it to mainstream success with the release of his hit record "Bad Bitty" (19M+ Streams). Incorporating melodies and unadulterated charisma into Milwaukee’s signature sound that comes complete with frenetic handclaps, and a heavy emphasis on bass and 808 drum beats. Featuring a relentless, driving rhythm designed to rattle car speakers and move club crowds, J.P.’s spin on his city’s sound displays his instinctual pop sensibilities, breathing new life into Milwaukee’s movement.
Born on April 4, 2004, J.P. initially made waves with his 2022 club-ready anthem "Juicy Ahh" (4.5M+ Streams). After his cousin Gillie found an instrumental sampling a pitched-up soul vocal crafted by Milwaukee's teenage producer DDMakinHits, J.P. put his spin on the beat, delivering raw and comedic rhymes with catchy vocal melodies. Garnering attention across TikTok and social media, J.P.’s brother saw his musical potential and inspired him to pursue music more seriously.
J.P. has since gone on to release several popular singles, including 2023's Dora-sampling "Get Down" and “She Took”. The viral success of “Bad Bitty” went on to catch the attention of established artists like Wiz Khalifa and Chris Brown, garnering widespread critical acclaim highlighting his unique take on lowend music, and impact on the sound. With a background in vocal jazz performance, J.P. has shown off his musical background and knowledge on “Bad Bitty” by using the vocal technique of scatting. Improvising with wordless syllables and rhythm, he effectively uses his voice as an instrument itself to create catchy melodies and invoke entertainment.
Growing up in Milwaukee and being raised by his mother, grandmother, and uncles, J.P. was exposed to music from old-school R&B and gospel artists like Al Green, Sam Cooke, and Luther Vandross – laying the foundation for J.P.'s melodic cadence. As a current student at UW-Stevens Point, J.P. majors in Music with a minor in Communication, finding time to create music whenever he has the chance. Created from the confines of his dorm room, “Bad Bitty” has proven to be an international phenomenon that J.P. is using to carry Milwaukee on his back.
Deeply rooted in his Milwaukee upbringing, J.P. takes pride in representing his city positively. He draws inspiration from the Ethiopian dance Eskista, which he’s incorporated into his music and the accompanying dances to add an interactive, entertaining element to the lowend movement.
Currently, J.P. is focused on promoting "Bad Bitty" and preparing for the release of his upcoming project due out in early June, on which he promises to deliver the same joyful, dance-inducing energy while experimenting with different genres and styles. With his talent, work ethic, and down-to-earth personality on full display, J.P. is poised for success and ready to put Milwaukee on the map.
