Eric Olson tapped as first signing to Home Team Publishing

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Today, as initially reported by Hits Magazine, heavy-hitters Thomas Rhett alongside longtime manager Virginia Davis (G Major Management), songwriter and father Rhett Akins and Roc Nation announce a new creative endeavor Home Team Publishing. As an extension of Thomas Rhett’s “Home Team” brand and current tour namesake, the new co-venture is deeply-rooted and carefully crafted from each of its members hugely successful experience in the creative process. The all-star team that has more than two dozen chart-topping hits and a multi-Platinum sales history has tapped Eric Olson as the company’s first signing. Thomas Rhett’s personal publishing will stay with his long-standing publisher EMI/SONY.
“Songwriting has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember,” shares Thomas Rhett who, along with his father Akins, are the only father/son co-write to ever top the Country Billboard radio charts. Rhett’s most recent single, “Star of the Show,” garnered him his seventh No. 1 song on Country Billboard radio charts. “I was a songwriter before I was an artist, and I was lucky enough to find a team that believed in me really early on. Songwriting the foundation for my artist career, so I’m excited and honored to be able to invest in the future of the songwriting community.”
Davis sees Home Team Publishing a natural evolution for the team. “Thomas and Rhett are both naturals at identifying and nurturing talent,” offers Davis.

Seattle, Washington native Eric Olson moved to Nashville in 2010 and connected with Kelly Clarkson’s musical director, Jason Halbert, with whom he went on to co-produce and write Clarkson’s smash hit “Catch My Breath.” Olson has collaborated with artists such as Dave Barnes, Danielle Bradbery, Mr Hudson, Dan Tyminski, Cappa, Chris Lane and Akins.

Eric Olson made the move to Nashville in 2010 from Seattle, Washington. Shortly after the move, he was introduced to Kelly Clarkson’s musical director, Jason Halbert, and the two of them went on to co-produce and write “Catch My Breath” by Kelly Clarkson. The song ended up as the lead single off her Gold-selling Greatest Hits album, selling more than 1.5 million downloads and reaching the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart. It was in 2011 that G Major Management’s Virginia Davis signed then 20-year-old college student Thomas Rhett after hearing some of his first acoustic songwriting demos. Davis recognized Rhett’s immense talent immediately.
