Saquon Barkley is a running back and 2018 NFL Draft prospect from Penn State University.
Born in The Bronx, Barkley attended Whitehall High School in Pennsylvania, where he was a three-year letterman and team captain. Selected as 2014’s Mr. Pennsylvania Football, Barkley committed to nearby Penn State University.
Barkley played in 11 games as a true freshman, ranking 34th in FBS and fourth in the Big Ten in yards per carry (5.9). Barkley was second in the nation among true freshmen running backs with 1,076 yards and received second-team All-Big Ten honors.
During his sophomore season, Barkley started all 14 games and became the first Penn State player since Larry Johnson to post back-to-back games with 200-plus all-purpose yards. Barkley led the Big Ten in touchdowns (22), and was named a Sporting News second-team All-American.
Barkley put together a historic junior campaign in Happy Valley, breaking the program record for receptions by a running back with 46 catches and becoming one of two Nittany Lions with multiple 100-point seasons. Additionally, Barkley set the school record for consecutive games with a touchdown (15). Following a 175-yard performance in the 2017 Fiesta Bowl, Barkley announced his decision to forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the 2018 NFL Draft.
In January of 2018, Barkley signed with Roc Nation Sports.
