It’s the season of giving. Here’s what our Roc Family has done to give back:
Andre Ward visited Your House Boxing & Community Club – an organization that aims to motivate and support at-risk youth to better themselves, serve their communities, and reject gang violence through boxing, education, and community engagement. Andre participated in their bag and mitt workout, had snack and pizza with the children and spoke with them about staying motivated.
Big Sean joined forces with Sean Anderson Foundation for an All-Star Thanksgiving Giveaway. Together with other celebrities and athletes, 3,000 turkeys and food baskets were given to Metro-Detroit residents on a first come, first served basis, in total providing more than 12,000 meals.
Roc Nation hosted a pre-Thanksgiving dinner with young adults from The Door – a center for alternatives for NYC youth. The teens enjoyed a warm meal and friendly conversations with Roc Nation employees and special guests CC Sabathia and Dustin Fleischer.
DJ Mustard partnered with Crenshaw UMC to host a Thanksgiving dinner and games for CUMC food bank members and their families.
Fabolous visited the Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger, located just 5 minutes away from Breevort Projects where he grew up. Their SuperPantry program is a free mock supermarket for the under-priviledged community. Fabolous stocked food, bagged carts and assisted elderly visitors, helping nearly 200 families.
Jaelen Strong recruited a strong group of volunteers including family members, friends, former Mt. Airy Bantam coaches and current young Bantams. Strong’s group of volunteers distributed over 120 turkeys to families and individuals in need. Many of the families served were referenced by Face to Face Germantown and Kitchen of Love, community-based organizations serving low-income families meals and human service resources.
Junior Younan partnered with Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger at Mobile Food Pantry in Coney Island. Along with his father and some friends, they serviced over 200 families.
Meek Mill donated over 150 turkeys to the Bibleway Baptist Church and We Feed the Homeless Philly’s Annual Turkey Drive.
Robinson Cano opened the RC22 DREAM School in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. The Montessori school will serve 100 boys and girls and offer holistic community and employment training programs to residents.
