KAREN RODRIGUEZ

Singer/songwriter Karen Rodriguez was born in Miami and raised in New York City. Karen reached national attention on season 10 of American Idol, where she blew audiences away with powerful renditions of “Hero” by Mariah Carey, “If You Had My Love” by Jennifer Lopez, “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars, and “No Me Queda Más” by Selena. Karen became the first bilingual finalist on the show.

Post American Idol, Karen sang background vocals on Marc Anthony’s #1 smash “Vivir Mi Vida” which led to a meeting with Romeo Santos. Romeo asked her to collaborate as a writer on his second album, Formula, Vol 2. Karen co-wrote three songs with Romeo from the project;  “Odio” featuring Drake, “Trust” featuring Tego Calderón, and “Gone Forever.”  Karen also wrote the Spanish translation of “Somebody” by Natalie La Rose featuring Jencarlos Canela and Kevin Roldan, which was performed at the 2015 Latin American Music Awards.

In 2015, Karen began releasing Spanglish covers of popular songs on her YouTube channel. Her Spanish translations of Drake’s “Hotline Bling” and Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” have over 3.5 million YouTube views each to date. Her Spanglish cover of Adele’s “Hello” went viral, surpassing over 10 million YouTube views, and charted #5 on US iTunes Latino chart and #7 Billboard Latin Digital charts.

In late 2016, Karen officially signed to Roc Nation Latin under her mentor Romeo Santos and began to work on new music. Earlier this year, Karen released her first original song in Spanish, “La Tonta De Abril”, and in English, “Happy April Fools” – both versions produced by Romeo Santos. The debut video was shot in Coney Island with production house Scheme Engine and premiered on E! Online and People En Español’s Chica.com.

The Singer Also Broke A Personal Record When Her Video
“No Me Verás Llorar” Reached 1 Million Views In 5 Days

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 23rd, 2017). New York native and singer-songwriter Karen Rodriguez participated on a special segment of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! last Friday. The program is usually taped in Los Angeles but came to Brooklyn for a week’s worth of episodes in the town where Jimmy Kimmel was born. In the special segment sponsored by American Family Insurance, Karen meets with Guillermo to talk about dreams – the show’s lovable and comedic security guard then grants Karen’s wish by leading her to Barclays Center for a special show in front of thousands of fans.

This skit was shot last Tuesday during her performance at the Tidal X Benefit Concert, where some of the biggest names in the music industry such as Jay-Z, Jennifer Lopez, Daddy Yankee, Luis Fonsi and Stevie Wonder, joined forces to raise money for disaster relief to support the victims of Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria and the earthquakes in Mexico City.

“This has been one of the most special nights of my career so far. Using the power of music to bring relief to all these people in need was amazing! Also, sharing the stage with so many artists that I admire in front of such a lovely audience, was truly a dream come true,” said Rodriguez about her participation at the Tidal X Benefit Concert.

Last week, Rodriguez also broke a personal record with her latest video for her smash hit “No Me Verás Llorar,” which reached one million views in the first five days of its debut on her official YouTube channel. The flamenco-infused song was produced by the Rude Boyz and co-written by Karen Rodriguez in Miami with a team of songwriters including Latin GRAMMY-nominated Mario Caceres, who received a nomination for his recent work on Maluma's smash hit ‘Felices los 4.’
