One of top young hitters in baseball, Dominic Smith ranks as the #2 prospect in the New York Mets organization. He currently ranks as the $63 overall prospect in baseball by MLB.com. He participated in the 2016 MLB All Star Futures Game.
Smith, left-handed hitting first baseman, was selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft out of Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, Calif.
Smith spent the 2016 with Class AA Binghamton where batted .302 with 14 home runs and 91 RBI. He ranked in the Eastern League’s top 10 in home runs, RBI, doubles and hits. In 2015, Smith was named the Player of the Year in the Florida State League with a league-high 79 RBI and 33 doubles.
A native of Los Angeles, Dominic now resides in Fort Pierce, Fla. He is expected to begin the 2017 season with the Mets’ Class AAA affiliate in Las Vegas and could make his Major League debut at some point during the 2017 season.
