One of top young hitters in baseball, Dominic Smith is the #2 prospect in the New York Mets organization. He currently ranks as the 63rd overall prospect in baseball by MLB.com. Smith, who is a left-handed hitting first baseman, was selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft out of Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, Calif.
Smith spent the 2016 season with Class AA Binghamton where he batted .302 with 14 home runs and 91 RBI. He ranked in the Eastern League’s top 10 in home runs, RBI, doubles and hits. In 2015, Smith was named Player of the Year in the Florida State League with a league-high 79 RBIs and 33 doubles. He participated in the 2016 MLB All Star Futures Game.
A native of Los Angeles, Dominic now resides in Fort Pierce, Fla. He is expected to begin the 2017 season with the Mets’ Class AAA affiliate in Las Vegas and could make his Major League debut during the 2017 season.
